Welcome to the President's Corner

Dr. Anita Haugabrook

President, Sugar Creek Women’s Golf Association

At the heart of the Sugar Creek Women’s Golf Association is a community of women who share a love for the game, friendship, and personal growth. Leading that spirit is our current president, Dr. Anita Haugabrook, whose passion for both medicine and golf has shaped the way she connects with others both on and off the course.

About Our President

A Calling to Care for Others

Dr. Haugabrook knew she wanted to become a doctor when she was just eight years old. After experiencing a time when she wasn’t feeling well, a doctor helped her recover and made such a lasting impression that she decided she wanted to do the same for others.

That childhood experience sparked a lifelong passion for medicine and service.

Today, Dr. Haugabrook not only practices medicine but also participates in medical mission trips around the world, providing healthcare to communities that otherwise would not have access to it. Her commitment to helping others reflects the compassion and generosity that so many members of Sugar Creek admire.

A Love for the Game of Golf

Golf is another passion that runs deep in Dr. Haugabrook’s life.

She was introduced to the game by her father, affectionately known as “Steady Bobby.” The nickname perfectly describes his consistent and steady golf game. Some of Dr. Haugabrook’s favorite moments on the course come from playing rounds with her father and her brother, continuing a family tradition that has brought them closer over the years.

Her love for golf extends well beyond the course. At home, she practices on her backyard putting green and sharpens her skills using a golf simulator, always working to improve her game.

President’s Welcome Message – Mid-Season Update

Hello Ladies,

We’re officially midway through another wonderful golf season, and it’s been exciting to see the enthusiasm and camaraderie that make our association so special!
Our Monday league play is still going strong, and we’d love to see even more of you on the course. Whether you’ve been playing every week or have been away for a while, there’s always a place for you. Come out, join us, and enjoy the game!

We also encourage everyone to make every effort to attend our Saturday playdates and stay afterward for the 19th Hole. These gatherings are a great opportunity to enjoy fun, fellowship, laughter, and strengthen the friendships that make our organization unique.

Mark your calendars for our next playdate:
Beat the Heat – Saturday, July 18
Come ready for a great day of golf, friendly competition, and lots of fun!

Beat the Heat Tips
As temperatures continue to rise, let’s all do our part to stay safe while enjoying the game.
 Hydrate before, during, and after your round. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty—sip water throughout your
game.
 Bring electrolyte drinks or packets to help replace minerals lost through perspiration.
 Wear light-colored, breathable clothing and a wide-brim hat or visor for added sun protection.
 Apply sunscreen before teeing off and reapply every two hours.
 Use a cooling towel or personal fan to help keep your body temperature down.
 Snack wisely. Fresh fruit, nuts, or protein bars can help maintain your energy.
 Listen to your body. If you begin to feel dizzy, overly fatigued, or nauseated, seek shade, cool down, and
let someone know immediately.

Your health and safety are just as important as your scorecard!

Looking ahead, we’re excited about our Fall Golf Getaway at Stone Mountain Golf Club, where we’ll be staying at The Atlanta Evergreen Lakeside Resort. We’ve planned an exciting weekend filled with golf, fellowship, relaxation, and other fun activities. You won’t want to miss this memorable experience!

Let’s finish the season strong by supporting one another, enjoying the game we love, and making lasting memories together.

We look forward to seeing you on the course!
Warm regards,
Anita D. Haugabrook

Connecting Women Through Golf

For Dr. Haugabrook, golf is more than a sport—it’s a powerful way to bring women together.

She loves connecting with women who share a passion for the game, whether they are beginners learning their first swing or experienced golfers refining their skills. Through Sugar Creek Women’s Golf Association, she encourages women to support each other, enjoy the journey of the game, and build lasting friendships along the way.

Supporting the Game at the Highest Level

Dr. Haugabrook also volunteers her time as a medical professional at the FedEx Cup in Atlanta, helping ensure the safety and care of players and staff during the tournament.

It’s an experience she deeply enjoys, especially when she gets the chance to watch some of her favorite golfers in action, including Tiger Woods, Tony Finau, and Scottie Scheffler.

Being part of the tournament each year allows her to contribute her medical expertise while celebrating the sport she loves.

A Heart for Service and Community

Whether she’s providing care on a medical mission trip, volunteering at a major golf tournament, or spending time on the course with fellow members, Dr. Haugabrook approaches everything with generosity and enthusiasm.

Her heart for service, love of golf, and commitment to community make her an inspiring leader for the Sugar Creek Women’s Golf Association.

Under her leadership, the association continues to grow as a welcoming space where women golfers of all levels can learn, connect, and enjoy the game together.
